WHAT IS THE SHRAVANABELAGOLA ART FESTIVAL

A unique art festival In Shravanabelagola, India during the Mahamastakabhisheka of Lord Bahubali’s statue in January and February 2018 to showcase the history and heritage of Shravanabelagola. Organized under the auspices of the Shravanabelagola Matth and blessings of Swasti Sri Charukeerthi Bhattaraka Swamiji, the festival is a collaboration between many established and upcoming artists, institutions, art galleries and patrons from India and across the world.

The festival is spread over three phases through the months of January and February and beyond. The festival kicked off with an artist's camp in January when over 45 artists came together from across India to create 50 works of art inspired by the art, architecture and spiritual message of Shravanabelagola and Lord Bahubali.

In its second phase, the festival goes live and for the first time ever, artists will be painting during the mastakabhishek of Lord Bahubali right in front of the statue to capture the event as it happens on canvas! An exhibition between February 17 and 26 will showcase the art work created during the camp, the live event as well as works created by several artists in their studios.

The exhibition will be followed by a roadshow across major art galleries in India.
